County Leaders Meet RNC Chief, Honors Reagan
(La Crosse, WI) - The Republican Party of Sauk County (RPSC) recently met the chair of the Republican National Committee, Michael Steele. Chairman Steele was in Wisconsin attending the Republican Party of Wisconsin’s state convention earlier this month in La Crosse. The RPSC also introduced a resolution to honor former President Ronald Reagan.
Steele, the former governor of Maryland, spoke at a banquet hosted by Wisconsin Chairman Reince Preibus. Steele told the crowd that the grass-roots organization needs to take back the party from the political insiders. He said he was excited that Wisconsin’s Congressman Paul Ryan, Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, and Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker are the bright stars of the party.
“The chairman reminded us that our core principles - the pursuit of individual happiness and responsibility; social justice; a prospering economy; and the right to American liberties as established by the US Constitution - are right on course”, says RPSC Chair Tim McCumber. “He also believes in the efforts of our local leaders to help move the political insiders back to this message.”
At the convention, the RPSC introduced on the convention floor a resolution to honor President Ronald Reagan with a summer picnic. Currently, the county parties host Lincoln Day events in February and the resolution recommends doing the same for Reagan during the summer months. The resolution was adopted unanimously.
